Farmers Markets: Fuel For Adventures

Explore what makes the Corvallis area delightfully different when you discover the variety of farm-fresh treasures found at the local farmers' markets - with three to choose from, you’re bound to find the right fuel for whatever your adventure. Sample local honey and pair it with locally made bread. Connect with the farmer and uncover new ways to try fresh veggies, meat, or even something exotic-to-you like pickled quail eggs! You may potentially find art that makes you, or whomever you decide to gift it to, feel special.

Join the bustle with other foodie adventurers. You can find the Corvallis Farmers' Market downtown on Saturday and Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to  1 p.m., April through November, located on NW 1st Street and NW Jackson. Check out the bounty from local and surrounding county farms. For an easy adventure, pick up snacks and find a picnic spot by the Willamette River right next to the market on the Riverfront Commemorative Park or a shaded bench a few blocks away at the historic Benton County Courthouse. Wintertime? We got you covered with the Corvallis Indoor Winter Market, running from January to mid-April at the Benton County Fairgrounds.

Feel a part of the community when the friendly vendors greet you at what is sometimes called "Tuesday Market" in Southtown, A.K.A. South Corvallis. This "very local neighborhood farmstand event" is held on Tuesday evenings, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., May through October, at Flicker & Fir’s urban farm, 1465 SE Alexander Ave, off of 99W.

It is at the end of the road, so if you drive there, street parking is across Crystal Lake Drive on SE Alexander (and if you’re lucky, you may come across a human-sized nest under a redwood tree!). If you have extra time, walk around the neighborhood filled with artists and admire the colorful homes of residents at CoHo Ecovillage.

If you’re heading to Marys Peak or the coast for a Sunday afternoon adventure, swing by the Philomath Farmers' Market. This community market is held on Sundays from the end of May through October from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Philomath Library parking lot at 1050 Applegate Street. From Corvallis, head down Highway 20. When in town, two blocks past a fantastic brunch spot, The Dizzy Hen, turn left on South 11th, cross Highway 20/Applegate, and look for parking.

In past years, treasure hunters encountered quail eggs - grown not far from that lot - and bundles of locally grown lavender. Who knows what you’ll discover this year!
