Beyond the Veggie Burger: A Guide to Vegan Dining in Corvallis

Vegans and vegetarians traveling to visit Corvallis have many options for dining. Locals will tell you that almost any restaurant here will have something on the menu for you. But where to go when you want more than a veggie burger?

Treat yourself to a truly delicious meal at this organic farm where all their food is “true from-scratch” with their bread, pastries, and pasta made onsite at the Gathering Together Farm Restaurant in Philomath. Their menus change weekly to reflect what is currently growing and available on the farm. Give them a call to check their opening time and availabilities - the cozy setting fills up fast. While they serve locally raised meat and dairy, servers and the chefs are well-versed in helping you meet your desires.

Early birds can get a bagel and coffee over at Bohdi Artisan Kitchen and Bakery, which opens at 7 a.m. Meanwhile, Greenhouse Coffee + Plants, offering plant-based kinds of milk, with the bonus that you can buy plants, and Ants on a Log, where you can watch climbers at Valley Rock Gym while you enjoy coffee, smoothies, or a health shot, both open at 9 a.m. If you’re by campus, grab a sweet treat at Death By Donutz. Interzone Organic Coffee House staff says, “vegan is right in our wheelhouse,” and recommends their Vegan Breakfast Bagel. In Philomath, right on Main Street, try Dizzy Hen’s vegan hash with curried lentils - they're also open at 9 a.m.

When it comes to tacos, you have multiple spots offering delicious ones! TacoVino, located near two of Corvallis’ murals and near the Riverfront Commemorative Park, creates unique versions using locally sourced ingredients as well as having three vegan tacos on their regular menu. Around the corner is Laughing Planet, which prides itself on tasty vegetarian foods and has yummy mushroom tacos. Over by campus is Bomb's Away Cafe, a "Rockin' Taqueria" that offers vegan options like vegan nachos, enchiladas, and vegan queso.

A little bit away from downtown, locals say TacoVore’s cauliflower vegan tacos are their go-to, while others go to La Rockita, a family-owned restaurant with three locations, and make the vegetarian burrito vegan by excluding the cheese.

Sometimes you’re in the mood for something beyond American or Mexican and want a taste of Asian cuisines. Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian, Korean, and Thai are all represented here!

While the Japanese and Chinese restaurants in town offer vegetarian options, one vegetarian family suggests asking if the restaurant uses fish sauce, so you know not to order dishes made with it. Their preferred spot for Indian food downtown is Evergreen.

Asian fusion and traditional Korean food are great at Koriander, especially the Teriyaki Tofu. Baguette offers Vietnamese sandwiches for lunch and dinner on weekdays. If Thai cuisine is what you crave, Tarn Tip Thai Cuisine is a must-visit with an extensive vegetarian menu, and many items are either vegan or easily made vegan. Plus the staff is knowledgeable about what being vegan entails.

On the “surprise, they have vegetarian and vegan choices” list is, despite its name, the Corvallis Meat Pie Shop. This Aussie restaurant offers a variety of fully vegan pies made with Whole Flower Farms' Not’cho Cheeze and broccoli, another made with beyond beef, and a tasty bean and veggie option.
