Come see the (Covered) Bridges of Benton County!

We have three beautiful and historic covered bridges in Benton County, including the Irish Bend Covered Bridge, the Harris Bridge, and the Hayden Bridge. All three offer some fantastic hiking and biking opportunities, and if you visit the Harris Bridge, you can also stop by a few nearby wineries. A little tour of our local covered bridges is a great way to see some Spring flowers or Fall color, as well.

Irish Bend Covered Bridge

The Irish Bend Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge that rests just west of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. It was built in 1954 and originally spanned the Willamette Slough on Irish Bend Road near Monroe. In 1989, the bridge was moved to its current location, spanning Oak Creek on a lovely walking path through a research farm near OSU. The Irish Bend Covered Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (Map.)

Harris Covered Bridge

The Harris Covered Bridge was built by H. W. Fiedler in 1936 and showcases a rounded portal design. Other features include narrow windows below the roofline to light the bridge interior and longitudinal deck planks. Harris Covered Bridge is also near several wineries, so plan for a bit of wine tasting when you visit. (Map.)

Hayden Covered Bridge

The Hayden Covered Bridge, a Howe truss structure, spans the Alsea River just west of Alsea, Oregon. It was built in 1918 and is one of only seven remaining covered bridges in Oregon that were built before 1920. (Map.)
