Whether you want to cool down during the hot summer days or just hankering for a delicious cold treat, downtown Corvallis has tasty fun flavor choices for you!
The hot new place on the scene is Sugar J’s Ice Cream Workshop at 134 SW 1st Street features small batch ice cream made from scratch. To the non-dairy eater’s delight, they also offer delectable vegan options. Sit in their colorful salon, or take it across the street to enjoy strolling on the Riverfront Commemorative Park. Still feeling toasty? Mosey down to The Splash Fountain and play in the water.
Get a taste of Aloha at Kell’s Koffee, 136 SW 2nd Street, when you try one or a mix of flavors on a Hawaiian Shave Ice. Dillon Kell, the Hawaiian-born owner whose kindness and enthusiasm make the small take-out spot feel like home, says the most popular flavors are POG (passion, orange, guava), tiger’s blood, and lychee. When you take a gander at all the choices, Dillon pipes up that you can make combinations and even offers suggestions.
Koriander, on 215 SW Third Street, appeals to your international palate with its Korean and Asian fusion dishes, plus a large assortment of Italian Gelato and Sorbet. This local gem makes the gelato and sorbet in-house, so be on the lookout for new options. Their more popular flavors are cake batter, mango, or espresso. Stay in and enjoy the air conditioning, or get them to-go as you meander the downtown area.
Does ordering a milkshake require an ID? It can if you want Bo & Vine’s highly rated boozy versions! This burger bar at 110 NW Third Street, lets you choose from the family-friendly versions, the caffeinated Cold Brew Mocha, or you can cool off with the Stout & Cream (made with dark beer and Irish cream) or the Wine Shake (made with pinot gris and strawberry puree).
Near campus? Over by the Oregon State University campus is the Thai restaurant Tarntip’s desert - a yummy vegan Coconut ice cream.
So with all these fun flavor choices, visit Corvallis and get a delicious cold treat! Your tastebuds will thank you.
