Grass Roots is hosting William G. Robbins for a discussion and reading from two of his recent books, "A Place for Inquiry, A Place for Wonder: The Andrews Forest" and "The People's School: A History of Oregon State University." The doors open at 5:30 p.m.
William G. (Bill) Robbins is emeritus distinguished professor of history at Oregon State University, where he taught from 1971 until 2002. Following a four-year stint in the United States Navy, he earned an undergraduate degree at Western Connecticut University (1962) and a Ph.D. in history at the University of Oregon (1969). During his time in graduate school, he worked as a choker setter and as foreman of fire crews. He joined the Oregon State University faculty in 1971, where he taught courses in Western American history, Pacific Northwest history, and environmental history. He retired in 2002.
