Cayla Skillin-Brauchle: Malleable Shield
Cayla Skillin-Brauchle exhibits Malleable Shield, a collection of textile works responding to her ever-present feelings of grief, despair, and fear around political collapse, social despondence, and the rapidly deteriorating climate.
Through her artistic practice, Skillin-Brauchle embraces problem-solving as part of her process. She combines found and discarded fabrics to create intuitive compositions, each designed to help us consider attentive ways of approaching intimate and societal relationships. Her work explores abstract ideas of cooperation, release and interdependence while celebrating a life rooted in small and large acts of care.
