Hauntings and Harvests in Corvallis in October!

Welcome to October in Corvallis, when the days are cool and sunny and the nights are brisk, brightly colored leaves dance down the sidewalks and through the streets, and we celebrate our harvests as we gear up for Halloween fun. We're looking forward to concerts and theater, spooky events, gala evenings and more.

Local Eats Week

Savor the bounty of autumn with an amazing assortment of tasty treats prepared by Corvallis restaurants. Participating local restaurants will each offer a sample plate for under $10 that features main ingredients that have been grown in Benton County and/or the counties immediately around Benton County. Local Eats Week runs Sept. 30-Oct. 6. Get the details.

Music

Scottish roots musicians Heron Valley will be at the historic Whiteside Theatre on Oct. 5, and Corvallis High School alum Birch Pereira will bring his Seattle quintet, the Gin Joints, to the CHS main stage theater on Sunday, October 7. Belly Full of Bob will be performing at the Majestic Theater on Oct. 19. The Oregon State University Wind Ensemble is performing on Oct. 24, and coming up Oct. 29 is OSU's Festival of Voices Gala Concert.

2. OSU150 Land Grant Festival
OSU150 Land Grant Festival
Oregon State University continues the commemoration of its 150th anniversary by holding a festival that highlights the university’s contributions to Oregon’s natural resource communities and economy. The OSU150 Land Grant Festival, from Oct. 1 to 17 at Oregon State’s Corvallis campus, features nearly two dozen free events including art exhibits, tours of wine, beer and cheese making facilities and a lecture about the future of energy. OSU150 Land Grant Festival events are free of charge.
3. The Emerald City Jazz Kings
The Emerald City Jazz Kings
The Emerald City Jazz Kings will be 'In the Mood' on Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the LaSells Stewart Center. The concert will feature a choice mix of tunes drawn from the bands of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and Jimmy Dorsey. Tickets are $25.
4. Chocolate Wonderland 2018

The Arts Center is pleased to present their 30th annual arts and chocolate fundraiser, Chocolate Wonderland, on Oct. 13! Enjoy art, auctions, fun and creative chocolate creations. The evening will feature premier artisan chocolates, craft beverages and artwork to enjoy for years to come. Tickets start at $50.
5. Corvallis Comedy Night: Matt Braunger
Corvallis Comedy Night: Matt Braunger
Even if you’ve never seen Matt Braunger, you’ve seen Matt Braunger. Whether it was as a stand-up on The Tonight Show, an actor on NBC’s Up All Night, a panelist on Chelsea Lately, or a cast member on MADtv, he’s been one of the most ubiquitous and unique comedians of the past decade. See him perform at the Majestic Theatre on Oct. 13.
6. SAC Presents: Branford Marsalis Quartet

Led by jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis, the quartet has long been recognized as a vanguard of modern jazz. A rarely-changing roster of performers throughout the history of the quartet has allowed the ensemble to develop a deep catalog of original, expressive music filled with unforgettable melodies and thought-provoking form, while maintaining a unique sound unrivaled in the jazz world. They'll be at the LaSells Stewart Center on Oct. 14.
7. The Magic Barrel
The Magic Barrel: A Reading To Fight Hunger
Join the Magic Barrel: A Reading to Fight Hunger on Oct. 19 to help raise money for Linn Benton Food Share. Listen to readings by Oregon authors, with autographed books for sale by Grass Roots Books and Music. Taste wine, beer, and cider, available for purchase with proceeds going to benefit Linn Benton Food Share. Enjoy live music before the program and during intermission.
8. Philomath Open Studios
Philomath Open Studios Tour
Local artists will be opening their studios for a free, self-guided tour on Oct. 21 and 21, and Oct. 27 and 28. Several shows will also be available in local wine tasting rooms. Artists will discuss their processes and show work that may never have been on public display. A full spectrum of artistic mediums will be shown, including collage, painting, fiber art, jewelry, photography, ceramics, wood, sculpture, and many more.
9. 51st Annual Corvallis Ski Swap
Volkswagen Presents Warren Miller's Face of Winter - Corvallis
The Corvallis Ski Swap is held each fall in Corvallis, Oregon and is the place to come for great deals on cross country skis, downhill skis, snowboards, snowshoes, bindings, outdoor clothes, helmets, and much much more. This event is a fundraiser for Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit and Santiam Pass Ski Patrol. Visit the Benton County Fairgrounds Oct. 18 - 21 and get ready for winter!
10. Portland Youth Philharmonic

The Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present the Portland Youth Philharmonic on Oct. 28 in a special pre-season concert conducted by David Hattner. All seats at this concert are only $5.
