Oregon Wine, Music, and Festivities in Corvallis this November!

Corvallis Theater

November is a busy month for our local theaters. Pick up tickets for The Miracle Worker, the story of Helen Keller, showing Nov. 1-18; Catch Me If You Can, a rousing musical heist, showing Nov. 2-18; Babe the Sheep-Pig, a family-friendly show based on the movie Babe, showing Nov. 8-11; and The Passion of Dracula, a gothic throwback to Halloween season showing Nov. 8-18.

Film Festivals in Corvallis

We're looking forward to two small film festivals this month. We've got the OSU International Film Festival, running Nov. 9 through 13, and the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, which happens on Nov. 15.

1. SAC Presents: Childsplay

Nov. 14: This special evening will feature the beautiful singing of Karan Casey, a native of Ireland, with the voices of violins all made by the renowned Massachusetts violin maker, Robert M. Childs. Childsplay brings virtuosic fiddling and features a wide range of outstanding all-star instrumentalists, ranging from all-Ireland and Scottish fiddle champions to members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and includes National Heritage award winning Irish step-dancer Kevin Doyle and Pilobolus dance theater member Molly Gawler.

Nov. 17-18 & Nov. 23-25: Thanksgiving Weekend is coming up fast and in the Willamette Valley, we celebrate with wine. Our area wineries will be hosting special events and tastings for Thanksgiving, and you're invited!
3. Vienna Boys Choir

Nov. 17: The School of Arts and Communication at Oregon State University presents the world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir in two performances at the First Methodist Church in Corvallis. Boys have been singing at Vienna's Imperial Chapel since 1296. Today, there are 100 choristers between the ages of nine and fourteen, divided into four groups. Between them, the choirs give around 300 concerts each year, attended by half a million spectators around the world.
4. Corvallis-OSU Symphony

The Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra has two concerts in November. On Nov. 18 join them for 'Bernstein 100,' featuring Bernstein’s rarely heard work for violin and orchestra, the 'Serenade for Violin and Orchestra (after Plato’s Symposium),' and Carl Nielsen’s 'Fifth Symphony.' On Nov. 30 the Symphony will perform their annual holiday concert, which will include Bernstein's 'Chichester Psalms (1965)' with OSU choirs, and other holiday favorites.
5. Turkey Trot 5K & 10K and Little Gobblers 1K

Nov. 22: Build a hearty appetite for your Thanksgiving feast by participating in this family friendly annual event! The 5K and 10K courses are flat and fast jaunts through the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding Osborn Aquatic Center in Northwest Corvallis. Runners, walkers, kids in strollers and dogs on leashes are all welcome. All ages welcome too!
6. Pastega Christmas Light Display
See the Pastega Christmas Light Display at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Corvallis, Oregon
Nov. 23-Jan. 1: The Pastega Christmas Light Display has been bringing holiday joy to Corvallis for forty years. Every year volunteers donate thousands of hours of work to deck the fairgrounds out in holiday lights and displays, including more than 250 figures and mechanized scenes.

Nov. 30-Dec. 4: The Corvallis Nativity Festival is a family-friendly event that features hundreds of different nativity displays, live music throughout the day, short evening concerts, and special kids' activities and events.
8. Winter's Eve Corvallis

Nov. 30: Celebrate the holidays at Winter's Eve Corvallis and enjoy an evening of unique shopping, food, music and more. The focal point of Winter's Eve Corvallis is a large, elegantly decorated, heated tent that is erected on Madison Avenue between 2nd and 3rd streets. Inside the tent, local businesses set up tables and offer samples of food, adult beverages, soda and coffee. Browse specialty holiday food items for sale, bid in a silent auction with unique and elegant gift items and services and enjoy (and buy) the art of local artist Jan Roberts Dominquez.
