5 Springtime Activities to Enjoy in Corvallis

March heralds the return of Spring to the Willamette Valley, bringing with it plenty to see, do, discover, and enjoy, from farm-fresh food to outdoors recreation.

Spring in Corvallis means colorful flowers, opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, farm stands farmers markets full of fresh fruits and veggies, and more. We're eagerly anticipating the opening of our local wineries and looking forward to hitting the trails around Benton County - we can't wait to enjoy the stunning beauty and marvelous bounty of our area in spring.

If you're in Benton County or planning to visit in the next couple of months, here are five fantastic ways to celebrate spring around Corvallis.

1. Oregon Wildflowers Around Corvallis

It's wildflower season in Oregon! Spring means gorgeous blooms of color here in the Willamette Valley, starting as early as March for some flowers, and lasting well into summer. Grab your hiking gear and head out on our trails to find yellow sand verbenas, red columbine, elegant brodiaea, fireweed, glacier lilies, scalloped onion, harsh Indian paintbrush, Cardwell’s penstemon, spreading phlox, and more.

2. Hiking & Biking Around Benton County & Corvallis

The warmer temperatures, pleasant breezes, and bright blue skies of spring in the Willamette Valley mean that it's time to hit the trails, whether by bicycle or on foot. And here in Benton County, you have plenty of fantastic trails for all ability levels to choose from. Enjoy everything from short pleasant strolls to day-long treks, while taking in stunning scenery and plenty of wildlife watching and bird watching.

3. Corvallis Farmers Market

The Corvallis Farmers Market opens April, bringing with it fresh fruits, veggies, meat, dairy, baked goods, and more, all from Benton County and the five counties surrounding us. The Corvallis Farmers Market happens on First Street, between Jackson and Monroe Avenues, every Wednesday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., April through November.

4. Mid-Willamette Valley Food Trail

Monday, May 27, 2024 is Memorial Day, and Memorial Day weekend marks the opening of the season here in wine country.
