This month's special review: Iovino's Ristorante: Ok, this Corvallis Italian restaurant has got it all! Great view, great bar and wine list and the food is to die for. The building is the new Renaissance Towers at 136 SW Washington St., in Corvallis Oregon. The Towers is Corvallis' new and first high rise condo building overlooking the beautiful Willamette river. Iovino's takes every advantage of the view with floor to ceiling windows and three story seating which should keep the wait help very fit over time. The real key to the immense popularity of the place is Regina Iovino's cooking. Showing her Italian heritage this lady produces superb Italian food with fresh ingredients. Last visit I gorged myself with Fritto Melanzane con Scampi. Wonderfully tasty tiger prawns sauteed with basil pine-nut pesto, served over herb-breaded fried eggplant and a rich sauce of roasted garlic and plum tomatoes with just a little hint of mint (grown close by), all served with wonderful seasonal veggies. The best wine pairing for this dish for us was The Pines 2006 by Columbia gorge a slightly grapefruity Pinot Gris. Enjoy meeting Regina with the YouTube video above, she is a great lady.
