One of the most interesting tours that Corvallis Tourism offers during summer (Saturdays only) is the Free Historic Trolley Tours.
Dates for 2009: July 11, 25th, Aug 8, 15, 22, 29. Trolley leaves from Second and Jackson at 1pm and takes about an hour. Reservations are required by calling 541-757-1544.
The tours are a fun and interesting way to see the city’s many historical homes. Many people are quite surprised to find out some of the original owner’s history and how they contributed to the founding of Corvallis. This is a wonderful and restful way to truly discover the historic homes of Corvallis.
The tour begins with the 1856 Benjamin Biddle House and covers Anne-style architecture, Craftsman, Prairie and Colonial Revival among many others. There are also bungalows from the1920s tucked behind beautiful sycamores and oaks. The trolley goes through 7th and 8th streets to the 1909 Presbyterian Church, as well as the Willamette Valley & Coast Railroad Depot.
